How to Set Up Microsoft Authenticator

  1. Download the App
  • For iOS: Download from the App Store.
  • For Android: Download from Google Play.
  1. Add Your Account
  • Open the app and tap on the "+" icon.
  • Select the account type (Work or Personal).
  • Follow the prompts to scan a QR code.

Troubleshooting Common Issues

  • Not Receiving Notifications: Ensure notifications are enabled for the app and that your device is connected to the internet.
  • Codes Not Working: Check that the time on your device is set correctly, as TOTP relies on accurate time settings.
  • Cannot Access Account: If you lose your device, use backup codes or recovery options set up during account configuration.

Tip: Use cloud backup to protect your data in case you lose your device.

How to Remove an Existing Account

If you no longer need a particular account linked to your Microsoft Authenticator app, you can remove the associated QR code easily. Here’s how:

  1. Open the Microsoft Authenticator App
  • Launch the app on your mobile device.
  1. Locate the Account
  • Scroll through your list of accounts to find the one related to your product, QR code you wish to remove.
  1. Remove the Account.
  • Tap on the account you want to remove.
  • Look for an option to delete or remove the account.
    This may be represented by a menu with a "Gear" icon in the top right corner.
  • Confirm the deletion when prompted by clicking on remove account.
