How do I remove an attribute from my data?

This will depend on the type of attribute in question:

  • For a Global Attribute set at supplier / organisation level

OR

  • For any attribute at product level (i.e. Global or Supplier)

Please follow the instructions laid out below depending on your requirement:

How to remove a Global Attribute set at organisation level

  1. From the supplier portal, go to the Attribute Editor tab available in the menu:
  2. Locate the global attribute you wish to remove your organisation from, click the three dot menu option on the right and select View Details:
  3. From within the Global Attribute details page, untick the My Organisation has this box.
  4. Click Unassign to remove the attribute from your supplier organisation:
  5. This will instantly remove your organisation from showing against this global attribute on both the Purchasing search results (if it has been mapped by a buyer) and within any buyer's attribute editor.

How to remove any attribute set at product level

As when adding these to your products, product level attributes (Global or Supplier) can be removed either in bulk or individually. The instructions below will cover both methods:

In bulk via the product data template

  1. In the product data template (available to download from the Catalogue Management tab), add the relevant global or supplier attribute(s) as a new column(s), ensuring that only one attribute is used per column.
Remember to ensure that at least the yellow mandatory columns are included / filled in if you aren't wanting to update all product data fields (but ensure any other columns are deleted from the template before uploading, otherwise you risk overwriting your data with blank entries).
  1. As when loading, the column header / name should be prefixed by either a 'S:' or 'G:' in order to identify whether the attribute is supplier defined or globally defined PLUS the shortname for the attribute in question.
The 'S:' or 'G:' prefixes can be capital letters or lower case; The system will accept either.
  1. To locate the shortname, you will need to check the attribute's information on the Attribute Editor. Locate the attribute in question and click View Details:
  2. The example above is a supplier attribute and so the column header would need to be inputted as 'S:RecyclablePackaging'. A global attribute would look like 'G:Fairtrade'.
  3. To remove an existing tag from a product, input 'N'. If a cell is left blank then the existing tagging information that is held for that catalogue item (if any) will be left unchanged. For example, all items in the below screenshot will have the tags for the two included attributes removed for them barring 'Product3' and 'Product4' who will maintain their existing Recyclable Packaging mapping status (if applicable):
While the attribute columns allow blank cells as a way of maintaining data, please ensure that no blank cells are included in your other data columns as that will overwrite any existing data.
  1. Save your file as .csv, .xls or .xlsx and upload via the Catalogue Management tab as normal.
For guidance on how to upload a product data file (including how to download the latest product data template), please access the relevant guide here.
  1. Once uploaded successfully, the attribute mappings will be instantly removed from the products and no further steps are required from you as a supplier.

Individually

  1. In the supplier portal, use the search bar at the top of the page to locate the item you wish to untag. You can enter a catalogue number, manufacturer part no. or key word(s):
  2. From the search results page, select an item to edit:
  1. From the individual product's page, click the Edit Product button on the top right hand side:
  2. Click the Sustainability tab
  3. From here, you can review any tags the product has already been assigned to and remove tags as needed by clicking the 'X' next to the attribute(s) you wish to remove:
  4. Click Update to save the changes; The attribute mapping(s) will be instantly removed.
